Where I stayed
As soon as we got off the mountain we were pretty much in the Yosemite National Park. Words cannot do it justice.......... amazing amazing scenery. Surrounded by massive cliffs that were strangely smooth, dotted with trees and sparkling lakes. Extraordinary!!!! We stopped for a bit of a walk then headed down into the valley to the village. Drove past large rock formations and sheer cliffs and beautiful waterfalls.
The village was really busy with lots of cars (of course Lou was driving). Finally found a park and headed off to find the walk which we had been advised at the information centre to do. The village is well done in terms of not intruding too much on the environment, but there were a lot of people....... this would only get worse on the walk. We had been told the walk was busy, but we thought NZ busy NOT USA. We reached the waterfall, which was stunning, but there were 100s of people there like ants crawling over the rocks.
Imagine a classroom of children on speed. We didn't stick around and got back to the car and on the road again. Lots of discussion as to whether google map was heading us off in the right direction, but we decided to trust the technology and headed back up the hill and out of the valley. Passed through a number of cute villages and then we were out of the park and on the interstate.
Long drive today so it was at least 7pm when we got to Napa. We stayed at the Westin and got upgraded to the most massive suite, excellent!!! Wonderful seafood dinner and then hit the bed. Massive bed and so high up Lou almost needed a ladder (think princess and the pea).
