Zagreb was originally two djacent towns on neighbouring hillsides, not on particularly good terms with one another. The one connecting bridge was mostly used for waging war against each other. These days it is one big city full of grand buildings, mostly restored to tourist viewing splendor. The upper town is a maze of winding cobbled streets and alleyways and an open air market. The main square is wall to wall glass shopfronts with fancy lighting.

And finally summer seemed to be settling in with temperatures back up to go-out-without-a-jumper. Evidently our sun tolerance had dropped though, so we were thankful for all the forest like parks in the city, as well as the botanic gardens.

We tried to daytrip to the stunning Plitvice lakes national park, where I promptly got sick and we had to turn around and go back to Zagreb. Might attempt another trip when we return to Croatia.
