Daytripping from Osaka, we began with the temple filled park of Nara. The main attraction are the deer tha roam everywhere and harass the tourists (who are mostly Japanese schoolchildren) for food.
I am on my way to either enlightenment of longevity (depending on who is telling the story) after squeezing through a buddha-nostril-sized hole in one of the temple pillars (so much for load bearing pillars?)

In completely the opposite direction, we also visited Himeji - main attraction the oldest castle in Japan. Our highlight was our first ride on a Shinkansen (Japanese bullet train)... 100km including 2 stops takes a cool 29 minutes.

Meeting up with Mario, we also have a day at Universal Studios Japan, well it wouldn´t be a trip to Japan without a theme park right? So we find ourselves in fake America land amidst a horde of uniformed school trips. Admittedly the rides are a lot of fun, although when we get (repeatedly) soaked with water I´m wondering who is having more fun out of the staff or the paying customers.
