After a few hot days in Siliguri (see next entry), we headed to Darjeeling for a relief with much cooler temperatures. Just 2.5 hours away Darjeeling is like a different world...a wonderful mountain town with amazing views on India's highest peak, Kanchenjunga . Not many tourists make it here and just for that reason the feeling you get is great...this part of the country feels very remote, the people are extremely laid back and friendly and the Himalayan landscape incredible. Darjeeling is definitely a top destination.

We recommend:
- Dekeling Hotel - great service and the best views from corner rooms
- Tea at Elgin Hotel
- Walk clock-wise around Observatory Hill and observe the Tibetan old men in their daily routine
- Visit the zoo and see the Himalayan Red Panda and Snow Leopard
- Dinner at Glenary's
