Where I stayed
Panjim Inn

Since we couldn't get train tickets we went for the Paulo Night bus..a desperate move..our sleeper seats were probably the nastiest out there, a fellow German backpacker was robbed when the bus stopped for a late dinner snack (some young guys tried to jump up through our window too but we caught them by surprise) and finally someone threw a rock through a window in the early morning hours. Needless to say that we were pretty annoyed and stuffy given the incredible amount of dust & dirt inhaled (a real problem here in India).
So, another splurge was in the air and we decided to stay at the nice Panjim Inn.
Panjim (aka Panaji) is the most laid back and "western" town we have seen thus far and therefore really relaxing...and on top there is some great Portuguese foods to sample (A Ferradura Restaurant is recommended).
