After a quick train ride we arrived in Alleppey, the gateway to the Keralan Backwaters or as some call it the "Venice of the East"...which we didn't think to be true but it's still a chilled place and the Gowri Hotel was really comfy. We were glad to discover that the Gowri has their own boats since we are getting bored with haggling for the best deal...so we found 2 more girls (Monica and Sarah) to share a 2-bedroom houseboat and at $40 each we were quite excited about the next day.
We all had high expectations for the Houseboat-Backwater-Experience and all our wishes came more than true; our houseboat was amazing and fancier than most hotels we have stayed at, the food excellent, our 3 skippers/chefs super nice & fun, we had the perfect weather with sun followed by a quick monsoon like down-pour, rounded off by the perfect sunset. All in all, an unforgettable experience and a must for all Kerala visitors.
