Hue greeted us with damp, cold weather. The Thai Binh II Hotel was a nice place but like so many budget accommodations it didn't have heat and the old drafty rooms with marble floors seem to envelope you like a chilly blanket.

Hue is the intellectual and cultural capital of Vietnam and a very young city which gives it a vibrant vibe. The citadel is definitely worth seeing even though it has been mostly destroyed in the war.
