Auckland International Backpackers

After a brief stop in Christchurch to say hello and goodbye once again to our friend Michi and Brendon, we departed for Auckland, the cosmopolitan capital of New Zealand.

Highlights:
- Choices & Diversity: After the South island-Back country-Fish&Chips experience we were kind of excited to be City-Kids again...Auckland is hustling & bustling and we felt like in NYC (maybe just a tiny bit :)
- Burger Fuel: great Burger-Chain-Restaurant
- A room in Parnell: first highlight was the private room with ensuite shower...might sound snobbish but it's just great after all these nightly hikes from camper van to motor park toilet. Second highlight was Parnell - great neighborhood with cute boutiques and lots of great cafes. (Auckland International Backpackers is recommended)
- Eating lots of chocolate cake and fancy Sushi on my B-Day!

Lowlights:
- US Dollar vs. about every currency in the world: why in the world does the USD have to be so weak when we decide to travel for a year??!!..every day that passes it seems to get worse....
- Big City-Smog: after 4 weeks of best nature-air we coughed a little here & there
