Guanajuato is an amazing town located in the rich silver mountains of Mexico. The town sits among precipitous cliffs and is accessed by a convoluted system of tunnels cutting through the surrounding mountains. The hillsides are covered with vibrant colored homes that appear to be stacked one on top of the other. We lucked-out (of course splurged a bit) and found a top floor apartment at Casa Bertha, which provided us with a full kitchen and views overlooking the town.

During the days we wandered through the streets eating the local sweets. If you're ever here be sure to visit the local mummy museum where if you're buried in the town cemetery and you don't make your payment, your body may end up here. The dry climate can mummify a body in about 5 years. Only the most visually expressive mummies are asked to partake...smile.
