We left wet Manchester and after getting lost for a while around Hebdon Bridge we arrived in Haworth "Bronte Country were we looked around the cobbled streets and visited the Parsonage, then onto the market town of Skipton were we all enjoyed freash warm pork pies with the
"gravey" running out as you bite into them.
Walked around looked at all the long canel boats. We then drove along the A65 to Ambleside
arriving at 6pm.Checked into our very nice B&B, had a pint at the 300year old pub "Golden Rule"
then a meal in the "White Lion"
.After a better nights sleep, jet lag is still with us we all enjoyed
our cooked English breakfast which included "Finney Haddock" and Black pudding.Simon our host very kindly did our washing for us while we walked around Ambleside the travelers were intrigued with the "House on the Bridge" we then drove to meet my cousin Audrey and David at
the "Masons Arms" at Bowland Bridge for lunch the weather now very hot and sunny, enjoyed
the meal and beer
to Ambleside taking 1hour 20 min.All 8 of us enjoyed a nice evening
A cloudy morning, enjoyed breakfast again this time 10 of us; a couple from Brisbane, plus a
young couple from Liverpool(Sam) & Yorkshire(Rachel) lots of chat.Met with Audrey & David
drove to Beatrix Potter's house and had a look around the garden and house very interesting.
Then onto the car Ferry at Bowness which is pulled across the lake by a wire and pully system, we then went onto Hawkshead were we had a nice light lunch, tea and toasted teacake. We then drove onto Tarn How were we walked part way around the Lake which is a 2 hour walk, but the girls found out there was no shops on route so decided to turn back after 30min plus the very light
drizzle was turning to rain.David made us coffee and tea all well organised in the rain under a tree.
We all went to the Skelwith Bridge Hotel for dinner which was very nice, a nice young Geordie
served us who the girls liked. We leave for Peebles,Edinburgh via Gretna Green in the morning.
