From the Taxi that dropped us in El Angel we had breakfast of chicken and rice and then caught a ute to polylepis lodge. We all sat in the back and it was pretty cold. We arrived at the lodge which is at 3582 meters above sea level about 15km from the columbian border. It was picturesque with beautiful little tradditional hut but with massive baths, the water was unfortunatly cold so that was a no go but still beautiful! There was a lovely family who ran the lodge and looked after us, they had a cute little 3 year old girl who spoke to us in spanish constantly. We went for a couple of hikes and had amazing lunch there. At dinner time we were the only people there so they set us up our table infront of the fire in the lounge, it couldn,t have been more picturesque. It was so cold and we didnīt have many clothes coming from the jungle so we froze most of the time. After dinner the guide took us into the forrest and told us a myth about a knomb that could turn its head 360 degrees and had its feet on backwards was pretty unnerving. On one of the hikes up into the mountain I got altitude sickness and felt awful. None of us slept well that night and all woke up with headaches.
