The hotel is about 2 km from the beach in Kata and pretty much every day we've stayed by the pool and headed out for dinner later.

Today we thought we'd venture out early - have a wander round the town, grab lunch and head for the beach.

The courtesy bus dropped us off mid town and we settled on a seafood restaurant and ordered lunch. What we were served was the worst meal of our holiday so far... SJW ordered a warm salad with prawns. What she got was, a bunch of leaves with big cloves of raw garlic and a few pieces of prawn all swimming in oil. I ordered the lobster salad and mine was much the same. We left most of it and made a swift exit.

Got to the beach and decided against the lounger, parasol option. We went hard core - on the beach with a towel! But by Jesus was it hot! Stuck it out for a while and then I suggested to SJW that we go for a swim to cool down. That worked - for about 5 minutes!

Begrudgingly we headed for the loungers/shade cover of the parasols and paid our $3 each - aahhh bliss...

At least it was for about 30 minutes and then the heavens decided to open...

Cab back to the resort. Taxi for Walker!

Tried the restaurant at the hotel again - went in, ordered drinks and perused the menu. I looked at her, she looked at me. It was crap. Back into town.

Stopped at 7/11 to pick up some essentials and we were amused by the fast food advertising. Other than the fact that he's happy - I'm not sure the chubby kid is the best model for their food??

What followed was a great meal, at reasonable prices with live entertainment from Mr Nino on the guitar. We had really good night.

Patong at night tomorrow??
