Got the courtesy cab into town (about 5 minutes) at 6pm and had a walk around.
The beach is beautiful, the sea was warm and happy hour was still on! So we settled in for a couple of cheeky cocktails at Re Ka Ta - very nice. SJW had the Manga Fanga and I had a Singapore Sling. It's a great little bar overlooking the beach and sunset. Just a few too many mosquitoes for my liking. They devour me but so far have left Sarah alone?? Off to buy some more insect repellent tomorrow.
Saw a couple of girlie bars and massage parlours but its all pretty low key and not in your face as a I'd imagined. Apparently it's worse in Patong. Very touristy in comparison to Vietnam and Camodia - here's hoping the islands are a little less commercialised.
Quite a nice vibe going on although the seafront restaurants know how to charge! So we ate one street back and saved about 60%25 on the meal price.
Tried some food from a street vendor and SJW finished off the night having a crepe with butter and sugar - $1!
