We visited lovely Galle on our way along the coast

Its famous for its cricket and also for getting abliterated in the Tsumani - well, isn't all Sri Lanka famous for that!

Galle is beautiful! Its in 2 parts- the main town centre and the Old Fort area which sticks out to sea

We explored both, the main town is hectic and buzzing with life, with food sellers offering amazing fruits, to flowers, shoes, king coconuts and of course tuk tuks!

Galle is right by the sea and has quite a big harbour with some pretty posh looking yachts in it, which I thought seemed a little odd as the general feel of the place is fairly humble - that said, I think a lot of very rich people pass through on flash visits to admire the crystal clear waters, diving, snorkleing and amazing food!

The Fort area is really nice - its sticks out past the cricket stadium and has high walls covered in grass ITs clean and quiet with a few couples having a romantic walk and great views down into the gin coloured water

We were lucky enough see the Sri Lankan cricket team doing some training - getting some practice in for the World Cup no doubt!

They are currently rebuilding the Galle central bus station, which was wiped out by the Tsunami- in fact it was quite a badly hit area, but they are taking their time and rebuilding it how it use to be and are being careful not to loose any of the towns charm with the new additions!

Again, as with everyone in Sri Lanka the people were incredibly friendly -we had locals coming up to ask where we were from and to make sure we had seen the Fort and of course the cr
