All in all it was a great day, it was so so good to see my family. My cousin won a bunch of prizes for her cattle and gave me one of her blue ribbons for showing "Baby Iya" in the Jr Calf competitions as a souvenir.
My aunt and uncle picked me up from Kananaskis for a welcome releif from the residence. I was starting to get a little bit of cabin fever up there in the mountains. We drove down the Cowboy Highway to the Millarville Fair where we met up with my cousins and other aunts and uncles. We toured the fair grounds, showed some cattle, and ate some good food. It was so wonderful to be surrounded with familiar and friendly faces, being closer to my Alberta family is one of the reasons I was looking forward to coming out west. (It's amazing how remote living in the mountains can be, no busses and I dont have a car yet...). After the fair, my aunt and uncle and I drove around in the Peter Lougheed park looking at the mountains. They told me lots of stories about coming up there on snowmobiles where they were younger.
