Driving south on the No 1 we have gone over 2000km in the past 8 days. Half the distance from here to Toronto. Half the distance from Toronto the Alberta/British Columbia border. It is a windy day, a cloudy sky. Senica is cursing at the slower driver up ahead. I was reading about Hveragerdi - hot spring garden. We may head there today. We are looking forward to the Blue Lagoon as well.
We have been married two weeks!
This town is based around greenhouses. We took a walk through and found everything there! Even tomatoes growing to the roof! We wanted to order a salad at a restaurant and eat all the greenhouse veggies. We had seen a big cake of what looked like layered vegetables
After witnessing the natural hot water being put to good use for vegetables, we went and soaked in the famous Blue Lagoon. I don't think this one is natural, but it is a must-do tourist experience. There is this white silt that makes the water look an opaque baby blue colour. This special mud is supposed to have properties which are good for your skin. It was very refreshing and relaxing.
On our last day, we drove along the sea side, saw lots of rainbows and craggy mountains. Now our honeymoon holiday has come to an end. Iceland has been a life changing experience. From the food to the music and the people's way of life, everything was eye-opening. The language was crazy to listen to and read. I think what we most enjoyed though was the colourful landscapes, sparkling and fantastic. We can't wait to come back again. Next time though, we'll come in June/July and we'll be camping with the kids! ha ha.
