I thought Vatn meant 'lake' but it means 'water'. I learned this at the coffee machine label at breakfast. Coffee is just divine here. Awesome awsome breakfast! Best homemade marmalade we have ever had. Bright yellow and grainy. Sunshine on biscuits! Also we tried a lamb roulade. We'd like to come back to this exact hotel again, even just for the food!
I had a dream that I could smell frying onions and I woke Senica up at 4am thinking it was time to go to breakfast! Then I had a dream about my wedding - it was like going through vortex, there was a rushing sound and time sped up. Senica and I were both dizzy, then we popped out on the other side of May 9th, everything seemed normal but were married and in Iceland! (Not so dreamlike of a dream actually) I also had a dream last night about standing at the edge of a mountain with a great precipe of a murky cold water and glacier. It was a little unnerving, like having vertigo at great heights. I was dreaming about something we actually did see yesterday but I was not scared in 'real life' at that time. In my dream though, I was too close to the edge and there were boulders looming over my head. I was reminded of those two German boys who went missing and were never found at the brink of the glaciers Hvannadalshnukur and Oraefajokull. I also remembered the warning of the waitress in Fludir to never walk on a glacier because we could fall through the unseen pockets and we would die in the fall, entombed in the ice of Iceland.
After breafkast we went out on the farm and played with rolly puppies and saw a lamb that had just been born. The newborn was shaky on its legs and kept kneeling.
Back on the road. Rocks lines the roads and intermittently they were 'caked' with a green lichen frosting as if snow had fallen on them or the rocks had been sprayed with that puffy insulation. Finally we stopped the car and Senica took three steps in, sinking halfway up his leg. It was so thick that it left footprints in the crust.
