Prince George - The New Gaming Center
The new gaming facility concept, which was announced by the British Columbia provincial government in 2004, allows Community Gaming Centers to have slot machines, bingo, Keno, lottery products and off-track horse betting.
Restaurants, and lounges for private functions, would also be allowed as part of the CGC concept to provide comfortable seating, and food and drink options to patrons.

It is as a result of this expanded concept of a Community Gaming Centre that Prince George has broken ground for a new gaming center at the downtown block surrounded by Quebec St., Sixth Ave., Brunswick St. and Seventh Ave.
This new Community Gaming Center will be a huge step upward from the present out dated Bingo Hall, located at the corner of Vancouver St. and 5th Ave.
It should be noted that Prince George also has a relatively new and large Casino, located near the intersection of Highways 16 and 97.
Since the new Community Gaming Center is major project, I have undertaken to track the construction of this initiative, mostly through photo journalism.
Fall 2006
Clearing the Ground
It was with nostalgia that I watched the female operator of the hydraulic shovel giving the "coup de grace" to the former United Way Building
Winter 2006-2007
Little of no progress
Spring 2007
It is now April 2007, still there seems to be no major push to start serious construction.
I find it incredible that there appears to be no provision to build underground parking.
For the sake of comfort and limited parking downtown it would have been a nice touch to include underground parking.
Considerations against this might have been additional costs as well as a proposed condo project near by which was to have several levels of underground parking. That project is only in the planning stages and shows no signs of moving ahead.
