We went to ceramic pottery places today kinda like the town (cant think of name) in NC
Had lunch and off to airport for our flight to Siem Reap in Cambodia
Will write more tonight be sure to go to www.flickr.com under linda.spallone I got some pictures uploaded of Ha Long Bay this morning
Tonight !!!
Random thoughts .. Finally A decent computer with a speed faster than a stubborn mule!!
Got all my pictures back onto Travelpod.... you can ignore flickr.. but only here 3 nights ...
Shock of the day!!!
the other night we went to a fish restaurant that has been in business in Hanoi since 1877 only serves 1 dish and gives you a sign in English saying that
We hired a driver to take us to Bat Tran.... the main route was jammed so he went into the little back roads.. Thank goodness he knew his way around....
Amy said look at all the roasted pigs...ooopsss not pigs DOGS bowwowowowowo
Hanging there all cooked and ready to eat .... Don't think I will be trying a taste of Fido...
Bat Tran... Never realized the work that went into ceramics... ..we were lucky went to the old part of town first... saw different stages of pottery being made.... how do they do that work... prices in the old village were unreal It is mostly wholesale and they aren't used to tourism yet.... although the clay girl did want money to have her photo taken
then as we progressed to the newer parts the prices went higher and the pressure to buy increased..... Our driver would take our purchases to the car for us...I could get used to that.
Got our flight to Cambodia... Amy had a bit of trouble when we got here ... she doesn't have as many blank pages in her passport as the authorities would like ...
On the way from the airport we hired our taxi driver and a guide for tomorrow ... $35 for driver and taxi $25 for guide ..We are going to the Angkor temples and then seeing an Aspera dance in the evening and a shadow puppet show
Cambodia and Viet Nam were like night and day....
The drivers didn't feel the need to constantly honk here ...it was so quiet and not congested .. a pleasant change.... our hotel is like a spa... everything seems to be quite new here and building quickly .. considering what these poor people have been through in recent years it is remarkable.... Pol Pot and the Ky mer Rouge massacred them and Viet Nam came in and overthrew the Ky mer ////
Ho Chi Minh was a pretty good guy in Viet Nam not the villain the USA portrayed him as ...
I will try to organize picture better tomorrow ...
there is so much to see I wish we had another day in Cambodia
we are fitting in all we can .....
Well night I am going up to a lovely room with hardwood floors and a doorbell and have a wonderful shower!!!! Amy is enjoying a massage .... and we are sending our laundry out
oh yeah another thing .. in Ho Chi Minh City our room key also turned the electricity on .... no key no lights ...

Love the ceramics
All those photos were great...all that clay just sitting in the street? right...and crouched over the wheel...that looked uncomfortable. Great to see it all. Love all the photos...looks like you guys are having fun and learning a lot. how's that snake wine, that was something to look at!! ....keep 'em coming.
Amazing!!
What an amazing trip. You are seeing more than a lifetime worth of things. It's fun to watch your progress and to hear about the hotels!
