After a disguistingly awful hike this morning (muddy & steep, not my idea of good times), we headed in the direction of Mt. Cook - the tallest mountain in NZ.  On the way we were let off to do another walk - this one definitely made up for the mornings' disappointment.  The mountains & lakes it overlooked were so beautiful!

After this, we really got close to the mountain.  We stopped off for photos, so many of them!  The moutain is really fantastic, and it reflects so amazingly in the lake on a still day it's remarkable.  Plus it was sunny, so who can complain about that?!  Phil even took us to a 'special' spot where we could take extra photos, just across the lake from the base of the mountain.  What a surprise when this turned out to be our bush camp for the night!  Going to sleep by & waking up next to this scenery was such a glorious feeling; one of those moments that I'm really happy to be doing a (somewhat) out-of-the-ordinary tour, even if I'd rather be doing it on my own.  But it was freezing!!!  I can't believe it gets that cold at night - didn't anyone tell Mother Nature it's summer!!!  And my cheap sleeping bag is so crappy that I slept with all my clothes on...before bed we tried to keep warm with Tim Tam's and tea, but it just wasn't working for me!  Oh well, I guess the worst cold is over - or at least I hope so!
