I'm finally in my last day in Auckland, and hopefully I won't be back for a good while. It's amazing how much better an area can seem when you know you're leaving in a day!
It's been ok since I've been back. Of course, the weather shaped up as soon as I left the island and it was sunny, warm and gorgeous all day today (sorry guys). I wore jeans this morning and nearly died (it had been cooler yesterday). This morning I had my Auckland Zoo African encounter which was even cooler than I'd expected. Even though I didn't get to actually touch or play with a big kitty (boo!) I got close enough for my liking. And the tour itself was so much more involved than the description lead it to be. We received explanations of every animal in the Pridelands Exhibit and they even took photos of us which the burned on to a CD for us to take how
I wandered around the zoo for a little while after that - I got to see some kangaroos! They weren't moving or anything, though, which is probably a good thing since they weren't really enclosed...Anyway, I left pretty soon after I started wandering because it's just not as fun to 'ooh' and 'ahh' at the animals when you're there alone. But I was certainly reminded of how thankful I am that I don't have any kids - what a freaking pain they are! Sorry Mom & Dad...it must've been hell when we were little. I just did my best to ignore them, except when a little boy crawled under a fence blocking an area they're re-developing. That I sat and watched (they sent in their other son after him to get him...hilarious!). Headed back into the city and to the Aotea Market that I loved last week.
All in all it's been a pretty good couple of days in the city - probably nicer because I know I'm leaving! Hope you enjoy the pics. I'll try to post again as soon as possible, but it may not be for a couple of days since I'm not sure about what kind of acess I'll have on this tour. I can't wait, though - the beaches are calling me!
Lots of love!
