Anyway, here are some pictures for you to check out. How is everyone doing there? I miss you all loads but am doing my best to make up for it by doing lots of interesting stuff. Don't have solid plans for tomorrow, but I'm planning on booking a Maori tour for this week, and a vineyard tour and going to the zoo, so lots going on. I'll be sure to keep you updated.
A big deal here in NZ - I managed to climb to the summit of three - count 'em THREE - volcanoes! Crazy, eh? I headed to Devonport, a little suburb, in morning to climb two. Great houses & atmosphere in that area of the city, I have to say. Then after lunch I hopped on a second ferry to Rangitoto Island. The entire island is a dormant volcano that errupted only 600 years ago, really not long at all. The climb was difficult & very hot (the lava collects heat and the residual effects on the hikers are immense), but worth it at the top, as you can see. A ferry ride later & I was back in Auckland and checked into my new hostel. Funny, I booked it thinking I would like it so much better, but as it turns out that definately isn't the case. I think I'll likely re-book at the first hostel for the weekend, after my visit to Waiheke island, instead of going back there. But I'll stick it out for the first three nights, after all how bad can it really be?
