Today's port: Skagway. We were off the ship by 7:40 AM and on our way to the Avis office. We picked up the rental car and we were off on our adventure to the Yukon. We used Murray's Guide as we drove along which is an excellent source of information mile-by-mile as you drive from Skagway to the Yukon.

It was a foggy rainy morning in downtown and the fog was beautiful as we drove towards the Canadian border. Amazing mountains, waterfalls, and partially frozen lakes. We went straight to the Emerald Lake Ranch and met Joni. This was a great ranch and we were so excited to get onto the horses. She has about 20 horses and had about 14 of them at the ranch. LJ rode Carolina, I had Rosie and Joni was on Trooper. We were very fortunate to have no one else booked with us so we had our own personal tour.

Our first stop was an overlook of Emerald Lake and then on to waterfalls. This wasn't your normal tour of walking down in a line of horses, we cantered, trotted and even galloped on the horses which was quite amazing!

We had a wonderful time and then came back to camp to take some photos. Joni had another tour of five people going out after us and she offered for us to take her four-wheeler back out to Emerald Lake and take some additional photos if we wanted - of course we said yes!

An ATV tour added into our horseback riding! We had a lot of fun riding and then went back to camp to pack up and start our trip back to Skagway.

We stopped at the Cinnamon Cache for lunch, ham sandwiches and terrific cinnamon buns! We then stopped in Carcross before we headed down towards the border, stopping along the way for several photo opportunities.

I drove so LJ could have easier access in and out of the vehicle. 90 KMH = 55 MPH in case you were wondering.

Our rental car actually had a feature to change from MPH to KMH which was fun to play with! The US accepted us back into the country - whew!

Then we finished up the last few miles to Skagway and on our way, we also went up to an overlook that shows the ships in port and the city below. LJ dropped me off at the ship and then went to return the rental car and do some shopping about 6:45 PM.

Of course, a few minutes before 8 I was back down at Security asking if he had boarded the ship because I hadn't seen him yet - fortunately he had a few minutes earlier and was back in the room when I returned.

Now it's time for dinner and bedtime! We are meeting Patrick and Shannon at 6:30 AM in the Windjammer for breakfast to try to catch the first tender into Icy Straight Point for our fishing excursion tomorrow.
