The next two days were spent island hopping on the lake, visiting man made, heavily touristy, floating islands and staying with a traditional family on another. After an interesting lunch and supper of potato soup, potatoes and rice, we got dressed up in the traditional outfit and danced peruvian style...(check out the pictures!)
After a day in the armpit that is Arequipa (where we saw the Ice Princess - a frozen mummy from the Andes) we headed to the Nazca lines
Huacachina has to be the most amazing place ever...a small oasis in the middle of sanddunes that are sky high. After running into a friend from Machu Picchu and Gus the Bus (from Argentina and Brazil), we were finally reunited with 2 friends from ProPeru - Rachel and Ben. A tour to the winerys in the morning and lunch by the lagoon, was followed by sandbuggies and sandboards. After a rollercoaster ride through the sanddunes on the buggies, we attempted to keep our cool as we slipped down the dunes. A lot of rolling, bum sliding and falling over resulted in us, unintentionally, taking home half the desert.
Our last day before Lima has been spent in the ´Poormans Galapagas´ spotting Boobies (type of bird) and sealions before chilling on a beach.
