So we've been here nearly 3 weeks and its been wonderful really relaxed and been constantly in and out of the sea - perfect!

Five of the other guys and me all had to learn to dive so it was good to be with a few other novices at the beginning, we managed to complete out open water certificate in three days which was really hard going as it usually takes four or five but it was completely worth it, as it meant we could get into the water sooner. So far I've done a handful of research dives - mostly counting and identifying fish, we had to learn 60 different varieties - which was a bit too much like hard work and came as something of a shock, but its nice to know what you're looking at as opposed to just being impressed by all the pretty colours!

I did my first deep dive yesterday - which was just incredible there are so many more things to see and the deeper you get the bigger the beasties get - I saw my first Moray it was about 1.5m long and had a mean looking mouth it was a proper sea monster! I was assured after wards that it was only about half grown so I'm very excited about seeing a really grown up one, tomorrow hopefully the reef we're going to is supposed to have Mantas and Turtles and Sharks so I'm supremely excited! and will do my best not to get eaten!

We've also done lots of ocean safaris which is how we monitor the whale sharks, we have to take identifying photos, get their size and which sex they are, we mostly average seeing 5-8 sharks per trip but on one there were we guessed 30 in the water in a massive thick cloud of plankton just swarming around that was on my second trip out and it was a bit scary as we aim to say 3m away from them so i was busy trying to get out of one's way while 2 others were swimming up behind me! Pretty terrifying as they were all 5-9m long and drifting along with their massive 1.5m mouths wide open! But AMAZING!
