Saturday morning and off to the airport via a new camera, only 3rd of the trip, not too bad! Quite excited as meeting Alicia in Bangkok. The plane journey must have been the worst of the trip. The take off seemed to go on for ever. The plane juddered away in the eerie silence, still no movement by the cabin crew. Then turbulence already and further juddering on either side, and I'm sure I wasn't imagining the burning smell! The relief when the cabin crew finally made it around wobbling with an extra large glass of wine and some Häagen-Dazs. Only a couple of hours later and we have touched down in Bangkok a little early. Its 2.30pm. Time to have my pic taken at immigration, pick up the luggage and someone to share a cab, Mandy, and head to Kao San Road to see if Alicia is where she's meant to be!

Bus to Chiang Mai
Bus to Chiang Mai
Still feeling smug that our taxi was only 340Bht not the 500Bht the ever economical Alicia had told us it would be, we stepped out of the taxi, up a side road and out of nowhere this mass of hair is hurtling towards us with a piercing Californian accent - ALICIA! Good to make a dramatic entrance! Having texted her from the airport she has already booked our night bus up to Chiang Mai (she's not a fan of Bangkok and we'll be coming back). So time for a little street food snacket before our 6pm bus. Fantastic Thai curries for $1. This is what I've been missing for the last 2 months - back to cheep!!!
