Much chilling on the balcony and beach yesterday - a chance to finish Harry Potter (so Nina and Kathryn can finally talk about it in front of me!). 2 for 1 on cocktails at the local restaurant, so a few margaritas,  and then on to Casa Blanca, and outside club/bar for a little dancing and avoiding dodgy Brazilian men. Unfortunately this did end in my phone being nicked on the beach, but on the plus side we got to see a giant turtle on the beach!

Today after some more of Ks Hot Cakes it was time to rescue my trousers which had been blown from our top storey balcony down the hill face when the winds had picked up in the afternoon the day before. It was impossible to get round at the bottom as buildings were in the way. There was no way to climb down the vertical embankment. These grey trousers could just be seen at the bottom of the surrounding buildings surrounded by weeds, shrubs and trees Cabana Balcony

. A little scout round the hotel room to see what tools i could find. A whipped 4 sheets from the beds and tied them together. I took a coat hanger from the cupbord and tied it to the last sheet, and then threw it over the balcony edge. (making sure Nina kept hold of the end - i guess house keeping wouldn´t appreciate lost sheets as well!). This just reached the trousers if i stretched out my arm. A few swing later and the trousers were hooked. Much to Kathryn´s shock (who kindly videoed the procedure!) i carefully hoisted the trousers back up to safety. What an exciting morning!

Well the plan today was to get a bus to Mazunte, but the taxi driver managed to persuade us that he would drive us all the way there (only 45 mins) and between 3 we agreed, so arrived at the seaside village for lunchtime. At first it appeared more like we had been dropped in the jungle as bugs and Mosquitoes buzzed round and the taxi dropped us up a hill. However trusting Nina that this was by the sea we went to look at a few rooms. We were sold by the upstairs of a cliff top cabana with a hammock on the balcony overlooking a beautiful bay. It was a cross between a tent and a room as the door and 3 windows had only tent coverings so we couldn´t lock the room, or later we found out we were rather open to the elements when the storms, rains and winds pick up! However it was a fantastic palm roofed wooden hut with amazing views, even if lethal steep steps and platform to get into it. (Not advisable to go out to the loos in the dark!).

After settling into our room we took the steep steps down from the cliff top to the beach to test what looks like a gentle beach, but we soon realised the waves and undercurrent had as much force as Puerto Escondido beaches!
