Our first day in this marvellous resort was spent checking out the pool, beach and local shops - tough but someone's..................at the end of the day we booked up trips to Green Island on the Great Barrier Reef (GBR) for day2 and Kuranda Rainforest for Day 3.

Picked up at 7.45am for the GBR trip which got underway by 8.30 via boat to Green Island. Even before getting aboard there was an abundance of fish to be seen in the harbour. We arrive by 10.00 and first stop is the beach where just by walking in you can see several varieties of fish swimming around you - it's dangerously hot however so you can't spend too much time there. The next stop is the Semi Submersible where you sit in a windowed below water level cabin and taken around the reef - brilliant views of the reef, enormous varieties of fish and a turtle! We did much the same in a glass bottomed boat around different parts of the reef - all round absolutely fantastic to see - Liz's dream of a lifetime come true. Josh loved the jellyfish but you have to avoid these - they give nasty and potentially dangerous stings.

Hello again down under
Hello all. Hope you are enjoying the hospitality down there as a whingeing pom. They reckon you can tell a plane load of poms because when the engines have stopped there's still a whining noise. Hope you don't get bit by any of the nasty bugs in that part of the world. All sounds fantastic, so look forward to the next update.

Peter
