Our 2nd full day in HK was spent at Landau Island where we saw The Great Buddha and a Buddhist Monastery.
We started the day by travelling on the HK underground (MTR) which is superbly efficient. We travelled to Tung Chung and then transferred to the cable car - Skyrail - a good description as you'll see from the pictures. Going across the South China Sea and then a number of mountains in a cable car was a fantastic experience, but one which scared Liz half to death!
We arrived at Ngong Ping village and then made our way to the world's tallest outdoor sacred bronze Buddha - stunning to see and walk around, and then to the Po Lin Monastery, a working monastery with many Buddha statues. All in all it was very calming after the hustle and bustle of Hong Kong, a huge contrast and probably just what you would expect at a sacred sight which feels like a world away from the big city.
We returned via the cable car and MTR trains - probably Josh's favourite parts of the day!
