After a very long and tiring journey we finally arrived in Hong Kong yesterday around 4pm.
We spent most of Tuesday travelling from Letchworth to Heathrow and then overnight 6000 miles to get here. Josh managed to sleep on the plane most of the way but neither of us got much, an hour tops, subsequently Josh left the aircraft as bright as a button with his parents looking rather like something even the cat wouldn't bother dragging in! The excellent airport express train took 20mins to get us to Kowloon, followed by a hair-raising free bus ride at speed to the hotel. Hotel very comfortable with great view over the harbour and the nightly light show.
Today we took the famous Star Ferry to Hong Kong Island ,went via the Peak Tram to the highest point in HK(see picture) then visited the very neat and tranquil Botanical Gardens Quite a few exhibits shut down due to bird flu threats, some wild birds near by have been found dead with the disease. Wish I had bought some theatre masks with me!!!!!
Hong Kong is all we expected and more. So very clean and tidy. Hustle, bustle, lights, noise and people aplenty! We are off exploring Lantau island tomorrow which may involve the very scary cable car ride that we saw on our way from the airport on day one!

Hello Liz Ian and Josh
Hi all, glad to see you arrived safe and sound in HK. I have been lots of times and never sleep myself for the 12 hours but you'll get over it. John Thacker at Bewator heard about your travels and wishes you well. Bet Josh thinks it's great not going to school. What is HK food like for vegetalians? Say hello to Chris for me if you meet up. Best regards, Peter
