Finally I got to see the school today. Saint Patrick American School is very quaint and small. (Pictures enclosed) I will be teaching Language arts, science, and geography in English. I have two classes of 13 students each. We start Thursday. The bus will pick us up at 6:45. Two teachers have arrived so far they are both a little older, 29 and 30 years old. Apparently the fourth teacher to arrive is my age. I am really excited to start teaching. The classes are only 35 minutes long and because I am only teaching one grade (some of the other girls have 3rd and 4th or 5th and 6th) I only have to make up one half day lesson plan and teach it twice a day. The school is a very reputable bilingual school in the area. They are currently doing a lot of construction, but we have been assured that everything will be complete by next week. We shall see.
Yesterday, four of us girls went out on the boat with Don our 60 something year old neighbor. We had a great time. It was quite the adventure. There were huge schools of tuna jumping through the waters, and yet somehow we only caught a really small, spiny, and inedible fish. We then decided to get off the boat and go swimming near a small uninhabited island. Everything was going great until we realized we were beached. And we stayed on that island for a long time. At least a few hours. Out of beer and losing patience. Rachel or mighty Captain/first mate/skipper was able to push us out. We continued the day at Paquera (a little ferry port) where we had lunch and mas cervecas. On our way home we got lost and didnīt arrive back until well after dark. All in all a wonderful day in the tropics.
Another boat ride this weekend, on my bosses 57ft. yacht.  And then possibly a trip to Monteverde before we begin in-service teacher training on Thursday. I really am beginning to like it here. Carrie, a fellow teacher, and I are off to buy bicycles this afternoon. >Which I am sure will bring many more adventures.
