Just a quick note on Blenheim to go with the photos.
We enjoyed touring the area and stopping at various wineries. We did an excellent guided tour of the Montana winery and learnt, in a structured tasting, how different the flavour of Sauvignon Blanc can be from 3 different areas around Blenheim. Quite a revelation as the 3 vineyards  concerned are so close together. Now we start to understand what is meant by 'terroir'.  Very educational and highly recommended.
Lunch at Wairu River winery was excellent; it is a family run affair and their food and wine are delicious. Excellent Riesling as well as SB. The chef worked in Sydney with Neil Perry before coming here. While we were eating a helicopter landed on the lawn to deliver a couple for lunch. What a way to travel. No worries about designated driver as they had their own pilot.
