A tranquil change of plans

. We weren’t very impressed with the service to be honest as there was no Aerolinius worker at the gate to help people and it became a scramble to be the first to the desk outside the departure lounge! As we had no checked luggage we were actually one of the first in the queue and it still took us an hour to get seen. Hopefully we get out money back!
A little dejected we left the airport and tried to decide what to do. It was too depressing to stay in the city an extra night and because we didn’t have enough time for the 20 hour buses we couldn’t travel to Iguazu that way either. We decided on doing an overnight trip to San Antonio de Areco which is a couple of hours north west of Buenos Aires in the Pampas region (think Gaucho’s). Although we didn’t really do anything here (the only thing to 'do’ is the museum which was closed for renovation) it is a gorgeous town to wander around, we stayed in an amazing place and had the best steak of Argentina so far. Although we were disappointed that we won’t get to see the Iguazu Falls we were happy we got to spend some time in Areco. And there’s always the next trip for the Falls!!
Our journey up to Buenos Aires from Puerto Madryn went fine and our last bus of the whole trip caused us as little trouble as all the others we have taken. We weren't in BsAs for long though as the next morning we had an early flight to Iguazu to see the falls. We arrived at the airport at just before 6am to be told that our plane was going to be delayed for 4 hours. As we had very little time there anyway we decided to see how much LANs flight would be as we didn’t really want to arrive there 4 hours late. When we went to the LAN desk we found out that all the flights to Iguazu had been cancelled the day before and it was likely the same would happen today – a problem with the radio tower in Iguazu. However, because we really wanted to go and Aerolineas (who we were travelling with) were saying that it was meant to be fixed by the time of our delayed flight we decided to wait it out. We started to get a little fatalistic when we saw the first and then the second LAN flights get cancelled, and sure enough when we were at the gate our flight suddenly changed to cancelled
