The next day after a late start we said goodbye to Niamh and Mark and headed off towards New Plymouth for another cousin stop. Siobhan lives there with her boyfriend Niels and we were looking forward to climbing Taranaki, the big dormant volcano which is almost in their back garden. The weather didn't help though and even though we were there for 3 days we didn’t even get to see the mountain due to clouds. Instead we took the opportunity to relax in their really nice house which has some very comfy sofas. Sibh, like Niamh was also impressing in the kitchen, and cooked a very familiar chicken and mustard dish on our first night there.

The next day the weather was still not great so we went to the local modern art museum. Now the picture isn’t brilliant quality but that is Sibh, Niels, Liz and me wearing full body, painted overalls and we are about to go into that huge indoor bouncy castle behind us and spend the next ten minutes bouncing around like fools and rugby tackling each other. Apparently that is art in New Plymouth. I don’t know art but I do know what I like and I liked that. That night we had dinner (excellent lasagne Sibh) with the guys a few of their friends.

We were supposed to leave the next day but as Niels was heading off to Christchurch and Sibh would be all on her own we decided to be really nice and stick around. Also the weather was crap and the couch was so comfy!
