Our next stop was across the Cook Straits in Wellington. We were getting the ferry and unfortunately it was running late. We were staying with my cousin Niamh who lives in Welli and that meant she had to wait up for us until midnight on a school night. Even still she made us a lovely cup of tea and had our bed all made up when we arrived. Legend. She's living with her boyfriend Mark in a big house with 8 people right in the middle of Wellington. Somehow even though we were sleeping on the pull-out couch in the living room we slept through all of them getting up for work the next morning! Just enjoying being out of the van too much I guess.

That day we went for a wander around the town and visited a museum there called Te Papa. Very impressive with a load of stuff about the Maori and New Zealand history and some really cool interactive natural history stuff. Wellington seems like a cool city. Not too big but big enough in that you’ve got everything you need sort of way. That night Niamh cooked us a great dinner and even finished it off with some apple crumble. Not a patch on my mam’s but a fair effort none the less. We headed out for pints with her and Mark and met up with a bunch of their friends in a Welsh pub in town. We were still going at 6am which apparently is the norm in Wellington and for good measure we even had a row with the staff in Burger King. Great night all together.
