Where I stayed
. Obviously we blended in as much as possible and tried not to shriek with excitement when we saw ET, the gun belonging to The Rock in Doom or Tom Cruises Minority Report glove. I thought we played it quite cool until Kevin started pretending to kill me with fake fire axes and got us kicked out! Only kidding :)
The best bit was getting to see what Rob's been up to in LA and we also got a sneak preview of his thesis film which was incredible and actually surprised Kevin and I with how non-studenty it looked. Hopefully big things to come for him.
As well as Robert I also have a good friend, Laura, who lives in LA. As I hadn't seen her in 6 years we met up with her for dinner one night which was great and an added bonus to the whole US trip. All in all as much as we're excited about getting back on the road, we'll be quite sad leaving the states.
We had a fantastic time in LA. I hadn't seen Robert for almost a year so it was great that we had the opportunity to get across to the west coast to him. New year was a low key affair, mainly because Kevin and I only had 2 hours sleep the night before because of the wedding. Low key it was, let down it wasn't. Rob took us to an amazing fish restaurant in Santa Monica with his friend Peri, and surprisingly despite all the fresh fish on offer which tasted incredible the tastiest of all was the lobster mac and cheese! We saw in 2011 in an English pub before heading back to Robert's and passing out on the sofa by 2am. I can't remember the last time Robert and I spent new year together, even in the same country, and I really enjoyed it. The rest of our time in LA was relatively chilled - we got our own chauffeur to see Hollywood Boulevard, Venice Beach, Malibu and more. We were also able to benefit from Rob's movie director status (aka student pass) and get a peak into the props and wardrobe departments at Universal Studios
