So this morning was the first time we both actually carried out backpacks on the trip! Up till now taxi men or helpful little guys in the hotel were all too keen. Up at 4:45 to get to New Delhi station for 6:15 train to Agra. Walking down the main bazaar at that time was weird. All shut up compared to the mentalness during the day but of course the station was still jam packed! I must say the train service in India is pretty good. 2 hour train costs 5 pounds each and you get tea with biscuits and then a hot breakfast served to you! Arrived in Agra and walked to the local bus station to take the bus to Fatephur Sikri. The bus service is not really up there with the trains but good fun weaving between sleeping cows on the dual carriage away and avoiding an oil truck driving down the wrong side. The hotel we found is such a massive step up from the one in Delhi and costs the same! free wifi, hot water and the drains are only draining so far. Was only 11:30 by the time we had showers but already felt like we'd done so much. On the hill above the town is a huge mosque and palace comlex from the 1500s that was built in 14 years and abandoned after only 15 more due to water shortages. Again i think the pictures say more than we can. Taj Mahal tomorrow!
