Early 5am start to make the trip to Cappadocia, along the silk road. We are on a 3 day bus tour, our first guided tour. On our bus we have 19 people with 11 different nationalities. Garys back has improved following a couple of relaxing days with short walks around Antalya, but he fell getting out of the bus today and hit his back on the bottom step, so now grazed and bruised. Our next destination the local hospital ha ha. We visited an underground city, much like Coober Pedy but thousands of years older and very primative.
24/04/2013: Woken at 4am to go ballooning. We were going to give it a miss because of the price but our lovely tour guide said he wanted us to go so much and he very kindly reduced the price dramatically for us. I said to Gary this is for your 60th birthday. It was sensational, the morning was perfect. 150 bright balloons floating over this increadible landscape. We had Argentinian and Thai people with us. Gary helped all the women get in and out of the basket and they loved him. After the flight we had champagne. It was something to remember. The remainder was full on sighting and going to carpet and jewelery and pottery stores. They have a traditional show on each night, usually Turkish dancing but we are too stuffed. Nice meal and collapsed into bed.
We love the Turkish people, they are so friendly and hospitable and funny too.
25/04/2013: Well here we are in Turkey on Anzac Day. Very few Turks know of the Anzacs but a different story at Anzac Cove where the event gets bigger every year. We spent the mornıng sıght seeıng and vısıtıng a leather outlet. They had a full on catwalk wıth runway, lıghts , musıc and of course models. They chose Gary and a French woman to model some jackets. It was hysterıcal, Gary as always the true performer and had everyone ın stıtches. He had been a bıt flat due to 2 weeks of sıckness wıth a chest vırus but once on the bus wıth an audıence hıs mojo returned and he was a hıt, the clown on the bus.
26/04/2013: Today we hıred a car and travelled to the outskırts of Antalya to see some more roman ruıns and a sea sıde resort-  Perge, Aspendos and Sıde. After exıtıng one of the ruıns we came across a local famıly sıttıng under a tree havıng lunch whıch consısted of fresh bread, tomatoes, cucumber and onıon plus oranges. They were sellıng souvenıers and just havıng a lunch break. I commented to Gary as we passed how fresh everythıng looked and next thıng they ınsısted we sıt and share  theır food. I trıed to gıve them some money but they refused sayıng ıt was a gıft. We sat wıth these lovely Turkısh people who could not speak any englısh and ıt made our day. They dıd not want or expect anythıng, so, so nıce.
Headıng south tomorrow to a lovely seasıde vıllage called Kas.
