Almost missed the bus to Lisbon this morning. Daylight saving started last night but unknown to us. We were having breakfast with our Asian/Canadian friend Edmund who was giving us a ride to the bus station. He said "we had better get going your bus leaves in 15 mins." Mad panic, grabbed our gear and had 7 mins to get there. Edmund must have been stressed because he kept taking the wrong turns. The bus was pulling out as we arrived. No refund if you miss your bus here. Lisbon is a lovely city, big without being overwhelming. Again evidence of the financial crisis. Many buildings here are worn and torn but there is a lot of restoration going on.
Definitely not a sophisticated as Spain, but more English spoken and the people are definitely more friendly towards the tourists.
We have walked the city and travelled by the metro and local buses, all very convenient.
The food is cheaper here than Spain and we are staying in a great hostel in the centre of town. We have a huge bedroom and they make great breakfasts, free milkshakes and free soup at night.
I think we are starting to wind down though, had to come home for a rest today after only 4 hours out walking, not like us at all. Gary sound asleep at 5pm.
03/04/2013: Full on day today travelling from one end of the city to the other. Weather this morning wet and windy but lovely blue skies this afternoon. Spent the late arvo in a cafe drinking wine with a lovely gay couple from Santa Fe in USA. Funny, they were psychotherapists specialising in couples therapy. They said we were inspirations!!! ha ha, so we cant be doing too bad.
04/04/2013: Today we had a huge day, we travelled to a picture postcard village call Sintra about one hour from Lisbon. This village has a castle, a palace and a fort. We then travelled by bus to the most western point in Europe. So now we have been to the most southern place and the most western place in Europe. Back at the hostel for free home made soup and a bread roll. Off to Porto tomorrow.

Hi Liz & Gaz,

Great to catch up with your travels. You are doing a great job of the blog, it will be fantastic for you to look back on with all the photos. We had a lovely Easter in Mudgee bike riding around the vineyards and wine tasting. Cheers for now, love
