Last night in Boulder was great, went to see Xavier Rudd in the local theatre with about 1000 locals and we were right up close to the stage. We had seen Xavier a few times in Aus at the Byron Bay Blues Festival but this venue was small in comparison and so much better, he was so good and the crowd, mostly students loved him. We met some really nice people who were so excited to have Aussies in the audience, we felt like celebrities ha ha. Xavier is so authentic, we felt proud to be Australian. Left Boulder yesterday morning and travelled through, over and around the Colorado rockies, using Gary's favourite word: SPECTACULAR!!  We are staying in the small town of Alamosa, another university town.  The further south we are going the more the Mexican influence is apparent. We are here to see the Great Sand Dunes of Colorado, they are the biggest in North America and rise to a whopping 700 feet. We were already up at 9000 feet on the plains. We could not believe it when we arrived, they were so impressive and there were people walking up the dunes, just tiny dots.  Not to be outdone, we, of course had to climb and climb and climb .The air was getting so thin, you could only take a dozen steps then rest. I now have some idea of what my poor patients go through every day just trying to do daily activities. We made it to the summit, Gary Hillary and his sherpa Tenzing LizNay. Both ended up with altitude headaches but was well worth the journey. We are having a quite day today, checking out the town - walking on the flat!!!!
