Great day, weather mild for this area. Drove about 30 mins north to the
small town of Perberton, very scenic. Meet some native Canadians who were making jewelery, they had come up from Squamish to collect pine cones. They apparently bring in $1000 / day. It is the nut from the pinecone that is precious. Unfortunately, due to the last season being so dry there are almost no pine cones. The poor little squirrels will have to find other fodder. On our way back we stopped at the Nairn Falls. Great bush walk to these historic falls where the indigenous people The Lili Wat tribe lived, it is a very spiritual place and great for camping. Last night in beautiful Whistler, off to Kamloops tomorrow on the way to Banff. Just hoping the weather holds out as we dont have snow tires or chains. Fingers crossed. The fire alarm went off in our building last night, at first we thought it was just our unit and w had done it somehow, but no it was the entire complex. Was ear splitting. Gary insisted we evacuate, I was a bit reluctant but followed him out. No one else gave a toss, even the fire brigade did not take an active role. They rolled up and had a quick look then left.
