Drove to Seattle today, the weather has turned wet and cold as I imagined Seattle would be. Seems to suit the area. The roads here are so good, many lanes and so direct, pitty we did not let the yanks build our highway when they offered. It sure would cut the time down travelling up the east coast. The supermarkets are also good, plenty of variety and cheap, we even joined Safeway club and get discounts. Have purchased an esky and storage box and stock up every few days. Have to make sure we don.t go shopping when hungry, its too tempting, everything so much bigger than home. We got a cornetto each and could have shared one. We usually buy one meal and share it, and it is plenty. Passed near Mount St Helens but with the weather bad we would not have seen much. We did stop at a little diner and they had some jars of ash and rock. The ash was so dense and heavy where the rock was like pumice stone. The small town nearby built a tourist industry and obviously made money initially, but the intetest has waned and sadly now most shops closed.
