Well after many miles and many hours on planes we have finally arrived in San Francisco. Before we got here I knew it was hilly but hilly doesn´t get close as to how steep some of the hills are here and how many of them there are.

After our mammoth journey we needed a quick kip to replenish ourselves before heading out onto the town. Immediately we headed for the well known San Fran cable cars for a trip down to Fishermans Wharf then on to Fort Knox to go to a restaurant called "Greens" that looked out over the bay onto the Golden Gate bridge. What a unbelievably fantastic place it was too. This must be the best vegetarian restaurant on the planet, the view, service and most of all the food were out of this world. If you are vegetarian and in San Francisco you must visit this place - don´t bother looking at the prices, just go. It was by far the best vegetarian meal out I have ever had. Also the more time I spend with Liz the more she amazes me with her sense of taste, and she was even impressing the waiters recognizing some of the ingredients in each dish and especially some leaf that came with the dessert which was from a rose plant, I mean can anyone else out there distinguish what a rose tastes of or have I just got a crap sense of taste. Following our glorious meal we caught the next tram back to near our hotel and had a few beers. Our hotel was in downtown San Francisco and Liz got too see all the things you see in the "movies" - tramps pushing shopping trolleys full of all there belongings, nutters shouting out all down the road, steam coming up from the drains.

Our secon day in San Fran was pretty mundane well for me anyway as we hit the shops to get a few things we needed. In the evening we took a hike up to North Beach and went to a restaurant called "The Stinking Rose". In this place everything they serve contains garlic, garlic and even more garlic. So thoroughly stinky and keeping all vampires at bay we had a couple of beers before entertaining ourselves in our hotel room with horrendous noxious vapours eminating from both our gobs and arses. Don´t, I repeat don´t ever visit this place on that date when you are hoping to take things further.

The next day we hit the tourist sites, Coit Tower giving a wicked view all over San Fran and the bay area - Golden Gate and Alcatraz, the wiggliest uphill street in the world - Lombard, Crissy Fields, Fishermans Wharf all on our feet. We walked up some incredibly steep streets and we reckoned the total distance was about 12 - 15 miles in total which is why our feet are killing us.

After a short kip as it was a saturday we hit the town and again ended up in North Beach where a thoroughly enjoyable night out was had. Good food in a Greek restaurant followed by much bozing in a great little bar/club over the road. It was here that Liz drank maybe a little bit more than she should have because the next morning she had the worst hangover of her life. It seems at last that age is starting to catch up with her, she telss me that she literally felt like she was dying, throwing up, feeling nauseous all the time and with a headache from hell. All those times that I have suffered a hangover like this and had not one ioata of sympathy (one time being asked to take her to work where after dropping her off on the way home had to pull over, throw up down a drain and lie on the floor next to my car with door open in Bristol City centre for about 5 minutes before I felt well enough to drive again)she now finally knew what a killer hangover is and has subsequently apologised for not realising before what one can be like. She now has a healthy fear of hangovers and has even adopted the thought that she might watch what she drinks on nights out in the future because she never ever ever ever wants to feel like that again. To make matters worse this was the day we were flying on to Las Vegas so somehow we managed to get her dressed bag packed and caught a cab to the airport.

All throughout our trip we have had no problem with our flights and on the one day when Liz certainly didn´t feel like getting stuck in a brightly lit airport lounge it had to happen today. Our check in clerk had not checked his computer properly as all the changes we have made are at the bottom of the screen which he did not check and told us we weren´t booked on the flight so he made us go on a later one which meant after getting to L.A. airport we had a 6 hour wait for our connecting flight and weren´t allowed out of the departure lounge.

Eventually late that evening we landed in Las Vegas and what a mad site that is to see when flying in in the evening.
