Just a quick entry to let all the family and friends know that we have now eventually uploaded our photo's so far. We have just returned to Allepey after 4 days of complete serenity and relaxation on a houseboat cruising the back waters of beautiful Kerala. We shared the boat with Sam and Nicole with whom we played many games of cards. We had 2 guys punting the boat called Pavthran and Saji and our cook for the 4 days was Thomas whom Liz in one dizzy moment thought was called Thomas Cook!. The backwaters of Kerala are incredibly serene and beautiful with things I can only describe as similar to dutch dykes keeping the water from flooding all the paddy fields, and creating tiny strips of land no more than 20 feet wide upon which you find families living in tiny cottages with their hens, cockerels, goats, and of course cows. Children calling from the banks no matter how far away we were for 1 pen, 1 pen, 1 pen! It must be the first English any Indian child learns and as we had only one pen we had to refuse, they then request sweet, sweet sweet!. Beautiful and relaxing as it was it is great to be back on dry land in amongst all the hustle and bustle and away from all the insects and moths that seemed to descend on our boat at dusk. Unfortunately our digital camera seems to have been broken in Liz's fall from the train so we can't upload any more photo's until we replace it.
