After all the planning here we finally are with time in Internet cafe to update all you guys in the U.K.
Delhi was pretty hectic but had a wicked hotel and beautiful curry on the second night before trying to leave for the train station the next morning to book our tickets to Rajastan. Didn't even get out of the door before being persuaded to get tickets from the travel office over the road where we preceded to be talked out of going by train and instead hiring a car and driver for 10 days to take us wherever we wanted. After an hour with Mr Shimla he had us well and truly by the goolies! However, after much thought we have decided we haven't done too bad getting a car and driver to take us all around Rajastan followed by a train to Goa via Ahmedabad and Mumbai all for about 180 quid for both of us - welcome to India! Budget not being stuck to from the start - must get better
We have now reached our first port of call in Rajastan - Jaipur - the maddest drivers you could ever wish to meet, to plagiarize the Lonely Planet Jaipur is like "Wacky Races on acid" and that is no lie! Never again will i complain or slag drivers off in the UK and nor will Liz ever critisise se my driving again!
It's our 2nd day and we've visited all the main tourist spots in and around Jaipur and Rich has on Liz's request had photo with snake charmer for a very not so "nice price" of 80p. Liz purchased some plain cotton trousers and a top for again a not so "nice price" and instead been totally ripped off tourist stylee! but we are now slowly getting better at saying no, no, and "thankyou but no"!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and we're now getting into the swing of things. If this sounds too negative don't be worried we are loving every minute of it, and think we have got rid of our naivety, however, we know there will many a trick up sleeve, waiting for us around the corner. but we're looking forward to the rest of Rajastan and to sticking to our budget!
Tomorrow we go to Pushkar (Holey place and also smoking capital of Rajastan!)
see ya!
