After a rather choppy night hanging around outside Galle, waiting our berth (apparently there is a tug in it at the moment) and as we had made such good progress with the decent winds we had of sort of stop and wait - all rather lumpy and bad night sleep - I don't like this sort of weather, when the ship goes in figures of eight - I just can't get comfortable in bed, I can't sleep on my back, if you are on your side you just fall over and if I lie on my front I get too hot and my arms go numb. Enough complaining.

Once our berth was free we made our was into Galle I didn't have too much to do as they already had fenders on the key side - I had got them out and in place - a good practice run I guess.

With immigration safely on board doing their thing we next had the assisted climbs: to allow those who need or may need extra help, they either go up the mast with a extra safety rope and a member of permeant crew or a BM. Ryan who has hemiplegia got to the top of the mast one handed, so did Tom and Tony both blind and deaf. Anne tried a new way for those who can only use their arms, to self propel themselves via a ratchet system. Normally wheel chair users rely on the rest of the crew hauling them up the mast, this way Anne managed, all be slowly. T get herself to the first platform by herself. I have not seen such big smiles, especially form Ryan and Anne.

After I had completed the rest of my duties and ate dinner (lovely steak cooked by mate Steve) I went out with the BMs Max and David, we took a tuktuk to Unawatuna beach and went to a little bar for a couple of beers, then David who was isching to go dancing persuaded us to go to this tiny dance floor. When we got there there was lots of flashing lights and German style techno music - David and I were the only ones on the dance floor- Max sensibly refused!
