Where I stayed
The way of hailing a cab here is to yell out across the street to a neighbour who´s willing to drive you. Great system!
After agreeing the price, we drove the 15km to Tambaba beach where the convention was being held. On arrival, we were struck straight away by the amount of security there. There were loads of police and officials. We were also struck by the fact that there were naked people walking around...surprise surprise!
A bit apprenhensive about where we were going, we finally decided to head down to the beach (FULLY CLOTHED!)
Tambaba beach is beautiful with long stretches of golden sand, sheltered from the wind. Unfortunately, it was hard to fully appreciate the environment when suddenly a naked person would walk in front of the view!
We found a nice place on the beach, put our towels down, and started reading our books. About 15 mins later, an official came to tell us that this was a nudist beach and that we would, of course, had to take off our clothes.
What did we do?
We decided that we would leave and Taj started putting on his t-shirt. The guy came back, thinking something had been lost in translation and re-iterated that Taj had to take clothes OFF not put them ON
Although the idea is great and we appreciate that people should feel comfortable to express themselves in this way, it wasn´t for us.
We found a taxi...well, a sand buggy, and we made our way back to Jacumã. We both went straight to the beach and recommenced our reading...without the worry of someone asking us to remove our clothing.
After sitting in the sun, and being whipped by the sand for about an hr, we headed back to the pousada for lunch. We tried out the pool and waterslide which was great! It seemed like we had the whole place to ourselves. To dry off, we played a few rounds of mini-golf.
Taj kept playing mini-golf while Olivia had a look around the small shops in town to buy some Havaianas.
We then went to the internet cafe to catch up on the blog.
We were going to try somewhere else for dinner and settled on a nice looking place right on the main street. We had a drink but meals were twice the price of `Roz´s` so we made our way back to our table.
Fish was on the menu tonight and was quite tasty. The resident cats who were looking for scraps thought so too!
We strolled home (everything is about 5 mins walk away), read for a while, and then hit the sack.
