Where I stayed
Pousada do Ingles
The owner had mentioned last night that there was an International Nudist Convention taking place (we had no idea honestly!) at a beach about 15km away over the next few days! We thought we couldn´t be in Jacumă and not pay a visit to the convention. However, today was a relaxation day so we stayed close by. We had no museums to visit, mountains to climb, nor archeological sites to explore. Yee ha!
Olivia headed out to the beach while Taj tried out the snooker table and mini-golf. Ah bliss. Taj bought some Havaianas jandals. We went to the supermarket for lunch and decided, rather unwisely, that a large watermelon was what we wanted for lunch
About halfway through, we figured that this probably was a bad idea. So much watermelon! We ate as much as we could: Taj managing to finish his half (surprise surprise).
We went for a walk down the beach for about half an hr. The pousada owner had told us there was a rock with a hole in it down the end of the beach which had been used by the native people in ´wedding ceremonies´. The idea was once you were ´married´ you would walk through the hole together and live together happily forever.
After visiting the rock, we walked back to the pousada and played a couple of rounds of mini-golf then table tennis. Great fun!
We walked back into town - actually, the town has one main street and a population of about 2000 - and explored a bit before arriving at the internet cafe.
The people in Jacumă are taking the local elections pretty seriously, vans blasting music in support of particular candidates are constant. And when we say blasting, we mean blasting! They very cleverly turn the voting code into a song which sticks in your head! This seems to be a common thing in Brazil.
Jacumă is very small and has a limited number of places to eat so it was no surprise we ended up back at ´Roz´s` place for drinks and dinner.
Olivia went to the room to read while Taj played snooker and table tennis with another guest (rather loudly).
