We took a slight rain check on Banff to go to the Stampede in Calgary. We got there for the last day which are the finals. What great fun – Bull riding, saddle bronc, bear back riding, barrel racing, steer wrestling, steer riding and of course chuck wagon racing… Great to watch and a buzzing atmosphere fueled by plenty of beer!!! ;-)

Met a couple of cowgirls who taught us everything about the Stampede, a real local insightwhich was awesome.

The final night finishes off with an amazing show – singing, dancing, comedians, cirque de sole style acts , aerial acrobatics and my favourite….. motorcross riding. They had 4 dirt bikes in a cage buzzing around each other perfectly time as to just miss each other. These guys were flying around the small cage. Watch my video to freak out.

Tips for travelers:

1. Calaway RV Park is awesome and has the lowest rates in Calgary ($32). They also offer transfers to the Stampede for $8.50 return!!

2. Don't buy seats for the Stampede, hang out in the general crowd, meet some cowboys (and gals) it is seriously so much fun. We bought seats and used them for about 30 mins the whole day…
