Today we took an all day cruise of three of Greece's 14,000 islands.

First stop Hydra (hee-dra) - don't forget to roll your r's. There are no cars allowed on this island, except for the sanitation truck I saw. We were greeted by people offering donkey rides through the town. I wonder if they ride them to get home in those steep hills?! It was a work day and they were ready and waiting for the tourists. It's so clean and quaint with a bevy of narrow side streets all of which are a mixture of business and residential living spaces, so you could be admiring something outside of a shop while stand under someone's clothes hanging out to dry. I found a bakery, where I found sandwich biscuit/cookies with marmalade or cream filling and half-dipped in chocolate, and I found a "sweets" shop where I picked up baklava and loukoumi (or more commonly known as Turkish delight)...I picked up rosewater's like aromatherapy candy!

Once we got back on the boat after Hydra we had a very nice lunch. The buffet was set up on the lower level of the boat and we went to town. Sorry, Shirley Cesar came to mind...I couldn't resist!

Next stop, Poros (pour-ros), where there were definitely cars and plenty-o-scooters. While bigger than Hydra, it is equally cute and miniature like.

Then there was Aegina (ae-ghee-na), the largest of the 3 islands and closest to Athens. There were cars, scooters and horse drawn carriages. Aegina is known for its production of pistachios, and believe me they were selling them everywhere, in everything...pistachio pesto, butter, Nutella, liquor, ice cream...ugh! I went straight for the gelato, me and the girls.

Finally, we ended our day having dinner, family style at a nice restaurant where the food and service were excellent! Wayyyy better than dinner the previous 2 nights at the hotel...yucko!

Today was really nice...beautiful weather, courteous islanders and nice relaxing strolls along the shores of 3 islands (good for 9,154 steps)...opah!
